The Wind and Rain....etc.
Two area shows ended the Spring 2006
show season for the EMC. Both came
with their share of weather
adversity however everyone had a
great time. A little weather
couldn’t keep these hardy souls at
bay.
On the eve of April 28, 2006 the
Panhandle British Car Association
kicked off their event with their
annual greeting of a red beans and
rice social. As it has been in the
past the event was well attended
with good food and grog was offered
up for all takers.
Overnight a rather brisk 25 - 30 mph
wind picked up and along with it, it
deposited a lot of sand in places
you would never imagine on your
little British car. On Saturday
morning the wind took liberties with
the bonneted on Mike Cook’s MGB V-8
extracting it from the car and
depositing it unceremoniously on the
ground...thank goodness right side
up with minimal damage. Bonnet
replaced it along with ninety one
others of British heritage took to
the beach for a day of wind blowing
and sand blasting. Everyone had a
great time visiting and
contemplating kite flying at the
Fourteenth Annual Pensacola Brits
Beach Bash.
From the EMC Pat and Barbara Cashman
flew high with a first in class with
their 1953 Triumph Mayflower. Bill
and Melissa Silhan anchored a second
place in their 1964 Austin Mini
Wagon. An additional first was
secured with my 1973 MGB GT.
A little rain on the way home on
Sunday wash off most of the
remaining sand.

On May 12 - 13 the Birmingham
British Motoring Club rounded up an
excellent group of British autos
along with area German, Italian and
even Swedish and French cars for the
2006 Sports Cars at Tannehill Show.
For this show the weather person
decided that a little blowing rain
would be the test. I’m happy to say
that from my understanding everyone
made it thru safe and sound, losing
no parts that I’ve been made aware
of.
The drizzle ended about noon for
everyone’s pleasure and the visit
and car ware was fine.
EMC’er that managed to float thru?
Pat and Barbara bought out their
1956 XK 140 and blue ribbon in class
as I did with the old trusty ‘73 B
GT. David and Menda Hayden brought
over their recently acquired 1988
Lotus Esprit and garnered a second
in class.
Despite the rain the BBMC put on a
great show in 2006 with everyone
enjoying the gonzo announcing of
fellow MGB’er Ruben Greenwood. For
