Club News Update - May
31, 2004
Hope everyone has had a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend.
I spent most of mine backing up. On Friday I left Ole Red
out at work with the tonneau cover on. The weather man
indicated little chance of rain...wrong....!
When I waded out and rolled back the tonneau I had two
to three inches of water standing the driver's floor
board. I live about 5 minutes from work but in the time
to took me to get home, still in a drizzle with the top
down I was soaked with shoes full of water.
After I keep the carpet rolled back with a fan on it
Friday night and in the sun all day Saturday, Sunday I
realized the hot water insulation was not going to dry
so yesterday I pulled the seat and replaced the
insulation and carpet.
I did make one improvement. I now have the tracks
cutout of the insulation and carpet so if it does happen
again I won't have to pull the seat.
Lesson learned.
Anyway I hope you were able to get yours out the week of
May 22 - 30 for British Car Week. I did run across a
rather taddy yellow rubber bumper B during lunch last
week at the Cherokee here in Jackson. Left a card in
hopes of getting another member.
David Crawford has forwarded some updates for the
website. Al Adams and I have looked over them and are
very excited by the new look and updates that David has
in mind. Today I received an e-mail from the web
provider indicating that during the week of May 24 thru
May 30 that the web site had 160 hits. That's more than
I would have thought. There are folks out there looking
and an updated web site should be good for the future of
the EMC.
On the Calendar for June and July please note the
following and plan on attending as may as possible.
June 19 Tech Session 3
We return to Pat and Barbara
Cashman's shop in Vicksburg.
I'm not sure what polishing or
wrenching that Pat and Barbara have
planned but I'm sure we'll have a
great time.
Don't forget we'll begin planing for
out show in September so we need
as many folks as possible to attend
and bring your idea's.
Pot luck lunch begins at 12:00pm.

July 9 - 11 Car Quest World of Show and Go
Jackson Trade Mart / State
Fairgrounds
Last year The EMC had 10 cars
present in the show and the organizers were
accommodating to place all our club cars in the same
area. It made for an excellent presentation. We'd like
to do at least as well this year.
Here are some specifics: The cars
have to be at the show site between 9:00am and 7:00pm on
Friday and can be removed from the Trade Mart on Sunday
after 5:00pm. BATTERIES MUST BE DISCONNECTED. The
entry fee is $25.00 for clubs with 5 or more entries
mailed together and received by July 3rd. We'll meet
at the Trade Mart on Friday at 12:30pm to ensure as many
of our cars as possible can be grouped together. Dash
plaques, class awards, and 2 passes are included in the
entry fee. If you want a copy of the entry form please
contact Barry or me. I'll also have copies at the June
19 tech session.
Barry Schmidt and I will coordinate
getting our early registration in.

TBA July Party
I'll be getting back in touch with
Jake Weaver to set a date and time for
a July get together at Jakes. I've
never been over but Jake's indicated to
have all sorts of interesting toys.
We'll do some grilling and supplant
with some pot luck.
TBA August Meeting
Sept 25 Brits By The River
This is the 1st big show of the fall
car show season. At our June meeting
we'll begin discussions on
assignments and followup meetings.
Again everyone's input and
assistance will be appreciated to make our's one of the
best.
Oh on the weather again.....I noted a chance of rain for
the next week or so on the Weather Channel this
morning. Stay dry, I know I'll be keeping a closer eye
out.
