THE SUMMER STARTS
May continued the 2005 trend of being a
very busy month for the EMC with lot's
of activities.
Members Pat and Barbara Cashman, Barry
Schmidt, Bill and Melissa Silhan and I all
made the wonderful multi make show at
Tannehill State Park just south of
Birmingham, Alabama May 13 thru 14. In
addition to the British Iron other lineages
were present from Italy, Germany and even a
couple from Japan. 100 cars were reported
to have taken to the field in all.
Bill and Melissa took Best of the British
Show with their '67 Aston Martin DB6 with
Pat and Barbara taking a second place in the
Britannia class. For additional info
including photos visit the Birmingham
British Motoring Club web-site at
www.birminghambmc.org.
A big contingency as usual made it up from
the New Orleans area and obviously had a
great time as can be seen at their web-site
www.bmcno.org.
Additional clubs from Alabama, Florida
and Georgia made the trip in for the show.
Tom Warren, David Lavies and all the folks
in the BBMC are to be congratulated on the
memorable 2005 show.
Next on the EMC calendar was our very own
Drive Thru History this year arranged by Ron
and Haven Stuckey. The Grand Tour of the
Midlands began at 9:00am on May 20, 2005
traveling north on the Natchez Trace to
Kosciusko to visit the Techno-Catch plant.
If you've ever wondered where Ron got the @chickencatcher.com
in his e-mail address those that made the
trip now know. It's no secret there really
is a mechanical chicken catcher Alice. If
you missed the visit and demonstration check
it out at
www.chickencatcher.com. From there
the travelers in LBC's moved on to Lake
Tiak-O'Khata for lunch a rest and then a
leisurely drive thru some beautiful lanes
down to Meridian for a visit at the Jimmy
Rodger's Museum and the Dentzel
Carousel with our final stop before hitting
the showers at the Rose Hill Cemetery,
burial place at of the King and Queen of the
Gypsies.
After a rinse and sit-down 22 travelers made
their way to Weidmann's for a fine dinner.
