Lot's of loose ends to pickup on in this update

Jake Weaver's Picnic and Tire Kicking Party was held under sunny and warm skies down in Clinton MS on the 16th of June.  We pulled the covers back on some of Jake's cars and as always enjoyed the sights.  New member Jim Trunzler made his first gathering.  Jim has been in the Jackson area for years and even runs mobile repair vehicle or fix it at your door step service.  So if you have a need Jim I'm sure will gladly help out.  Jim and Keith Anderson looked over the fender of Will Ducan's recent purchase a '70 MGB and did some SU metering and judging by Will's travels they must have done a good job, see below.

After a meal of hamburgers and all the fixins we all went our separate ways but that wasn't the end of everyone's travels.

Will Ducan gets the long drive award for his recent drive to Cherokee National Park near Cleveland TN.  He didn't give me his exact number but MapQuest puts the distance from Jackson MS to Cleveland TN at 415 miles...OH MY...each way.  Will made it there and back and other than a couple of small rain leaks had a great time traveling and visiting with friends.

Ron Stuckey has been busy moving his ship up to Guntersville AL.  Over the weekend of July 4th Ron made the run in his B up there a total of 295 miles each way.  Ron enjoyed the trip however his partner during the trip was a tropical storm named Cindy.

Being partial to the B I'll have to note that the MG 2005 was held over the week of July 6th thru 10th in Olympia Washington.  I was able to keep up with several folks, a total of twelve on arrival many of whom drove from New England six days across country in their B's for the four day event and back...wow...talk about living on the wild side.  Oh well MG 2006 will be the all register meet June 21 - 25, 2006.  This will be the big one with 1,000 MG's expected in  Gatlinburg TN.  Let's see by my MapQuest that's only 536 miles each way...AL, Debbie we'll be up to see ya.

Pat and Barbara Cashman did make it up to the U.S. F1 race.  Pat indicated they had a great time rubbing shoulders with the likes of Bob Varsha, Steve Matchett and Jackie Stewart.  Although the race itself was something of a downer it was an enjoyable trip and Pat indicates with the coming refunds he's marking is calendar for next year.

On another topic Brit's by the River is fast approaching and we're making plans now for the 9th annual show.  We'll be in the same place as last year in conjunction with the Bowie River Festival in Vidalia LA.  A block of rooms has been secured at the Comfort Suites so make your reservations soon.  The number there is 318-336-1655 or 1-800-424-6243, tell them your with the English Motoring Club.

In case your missed it, our last years Best of Show MGA owned by Danny Varnado made the Summer 2005 British Motoring (Moss Motors) magazine.  Thanks for the plug Danny we really appreciate it and hope you can come and visit again this year.
