Mid-Summer Reunions
The EMC gathered at Lake Arrowhead on July 19, 2008 for a
club reunion. Six members gathered in Jackson for the
30-minute drive over. New auto updates were reviewed
including Trey Decell’s new carb set up, Mike and Alice
Glore’s recently purchased TR-6 and Royce Boyer made it back
on the street with the rumble of his Sunbeam Tiger.
Our guests of honors at this gathering, Alex and Tere Wade
came over from Yuma AZ. We were joined later in the day by
Scotty and Marie Marsh. This was a significant gathering of
early organizers of the EMC as they are listed in the
official charter of the Central Mississippi Chapter of the
VTR from October 23, 1981.
Alex was elected president of the club and Scotty was
elected Secretary - Treasurer during the September 1982
meetings and were hands on with the club throughout the
early years. Other folks present at our gathering that were
also involved in the club early years were Keith Anderson,
Pat and Barbara Cashman and Dennis Loftin. These members
were all there in April 1986 when the CMC-VTR became the EMC
and the newsletter became the Off-Side Undo. Thanks to these
good folks the course of the EMC was set and has remained in
place for many years.
Great food and fellowship was the word for the afternoon
with a little dancing thrown in. No, actually that was
everyone dodging for the most part the resident wasps that
we disturbed. It was like a 28th year class reunion or maybe
founders day. It was great to see everyone back together and
we hope it can occur more often in the future sans the
wasps.
The August 16 gathering was another great gathering at the
garage of David and Jo Ann Bailey. To say garage was a
little of an understatement. David has enclosed a very large
area for future projects. The shop is still under
construction however all the doors and windows were in place
and the AC was running which is a real blessing in
Mid-Mississippi during mid August. Three members; Brother
Clay’s MGB, Keith Anderson’s P4, Mike Glore’s Esprit all
made the gathering and Andy and Bonnie Menapace brought out
dad’s Alfa sedan for the gathering. Another great meal was
followed by The Brits By The River planning and coordination
meeting along with goodie bag stuffing.
We’ve still got plenty of room in our goodie bags so if you
can donate items we’re still accepting donations, just give
me a call. Everyone was very appreciative of David and Jo
Ann for allowing the EMC to move in on them at such short
notice.
Upcoming and changing events
We continue to modify our calendar for the remainder of the
year in effort to introduce new activities. If you have
suggestions, let us know. We’ll certainly give them
consideration. Watch for changes!
