YEAREND GARAGE
NOTES
The year was
finished off with a couple of
planned and one short notice
gathering by the EMC.
On November 19,
the EMC had our regular monthly
gathering at the Johnston residence.
Tech Session IV the final of the
season was moved from the center of
LBC’dom in Mississippi, Jim and Faye
Enzman’s place to the Johnston’s
garage in Ridgeland.
A large
gathering of members assembled for
an evaluation of the ‘64 B that
Martha and I had coaxed home back in
the spring. I had done some dis-assembly
on the car, cleaning out most of the
interior and had begun efforts to
see if the wrench trust of the EMC
could perhaps see if we could get
the B to turnover for us. After
evaluating the SU status it was
decided that the best course would
be additional dis-assembly so we all
jumped in pulling the windshield and
left front wing in our continued
search for the inevitable rust
gremlin.
Much to our
surprise, a minimal amount of rust
was found behind the rather Swiss
cheese and bondo front wing. The
outer covering on the right front
appears in better shape. Everyone
present agreed that it appears that
Martha and I now have a keeper for
our (and the EMC’s) garage therapy
sessions.
Martha cooked
up a couple of big pots of her
special chili and with everyone
contributing the EMC once again
conquered mechanical issues and
departed content with the outcome of
Tech Session IV.
Our rather
short notice gathering was held on
Sunday November 27 at the garage of
EMC past presidential family Al and
Debbie Adams. Al and Debbie have
located to the Gatlinburg Tn area
and are very missed at our monthly
events. Keith Anderson had called an
emergency Tech Session at the Adam’s
to assist in installing a newly
located engine in the Rover P-4
which was struck down a year or so
ago with rapidly displaced internal
engine parts.
During the
gathering the EMC presented Al and
Debbie with a plaque signed by forty
members of the EMC in recognition
and appreciation of their support of
the EMC.
On December 3,
the EMC held our final gathering of
2005. With twenty seven in
attendance we relived memories of
the year and initiated plans for
2006 at Pat and Barbara Cashman’s
garage in Vicksburg.
We were updated
by Keith Anderson and Dennis Loftin
on the progress on Al and Debbie’s
P-4 project, the new engine is back
in and final touches are being
made. We were all happy to hear of
the successful wedding of Jim and
Faye Enzman’s daughter in Eddiceton
during Tech Session IV weekend.
It had been a
while since past Terry and Meridith
Trovato and fellow Natchez members
Cappy and Judy Stahlman had made it
up for a visit, everyone was glad
they could make it in for our
yearend party.
Once again the
food and company were the best and
everyone had a great time.
Thanks to all
members that provided support and
gave of their time to The EMC during
2005. Plans are currently being made
for 2006 and we'll be looking for
more good times and travels.
Happy motoring
Gene Johnston
